Characters can request a canon update by asking Q to see what's going on where they came from. If he's in a sporting mood, and if you're very nice, he'll zap your character back to their home to live out their life up until their new canon point. The character will have no memory of the game's setting or events while they are in their own world. They will return anywhere from five minutes to two hours later, at player discretion, anywhere in the station, in a flash of light. Their aging, any injuries, etc. are also completely up to player discretion.
